Rabbi Avi Weiss is senior rabbi of the Hebrew Institute of Riverdale, Bronx, NY. He is the founder of two institutions that grant semicha, Yeshivat Chovevei Torah Rabbinical School for men, and Yeshivat Maharat for Women. He is also the co-founder of the International Rabbinic Fellowship (IRF), the new Modern Orthodox rabbinical organization. His most recent book, Holistic Prayer was published last spring, and his memoir of the Soviet Jewry movement, Open Up the Iron Door will be published in the coming months.
