Shavuot: Revelation and Covenant

Posted by Meir Schweiger on June 7, 2016
Topics: Pardes from Jerusalem, Shavuot

The Rabbis, in our liturgy, refer to Shavuot as the holiday of the “giving” of the Torah. But in fact, Shavuot is for us, the holiday of the “receiving” of the Torah.

In this podcast, Rabbi Schweiger examines chapters 19 and 24 of the Book of Exodus. He discusses how Revelation, the I-Thou encounter, is not the end goal but the crucial prelude to covenant and commitment.
