5775 — Balak: Do we believe in magic?

Posted by Neima Novetsky on June 30, 2015
Topics: Pardes from Jerusalem, Torah, Balak

In this week’s podcast, Neima Novetsky discusses parshat Balak and the question of magic. Parashat Balak speaks at length about the attempts of Bilaam to curse the nation of Israel. But why do we care if some heathen sorcerer was to curse us? Would his words have any power to harm us even if he succeeded in saying them?
