Parsha BeHa’alotcha describes the only Passover sacrifice offered by the people of Israel during the course of their forty-year journey through the wilderness. But it does so out of order, because this celebration actually took place two full weeks before the census that opens the Book of Numbers. Why didn’t the Torah record the events chronologically?
