What is Hannukah?

Topics: Hannukah

What is Hannukah? This seemingly innocent question of the gemara opens up for us an exciting world. In this class, Mike Feuer will explore the historical context of the Maccabean revolt against the Greeks, along with its roots as a cultural struggle within the Jewish people. This engagement of the story of Hannukah challenges our notions of text, law and history as we struggle to discover – what is Hannukah? Thanks to Sulam Yaakov Sounds where this class first appeared.
