Student, Teacher, Learner. How Our Educational Narratives Dictate Our Lives

Class Title – Student, Teacher, Learner. How Our Educational Narratives Dictate Our Lives

Class taught by Nechama Goldman Barash

Class description: In this session, we will look at rabbinic texts that deal with different aspects of education and how this impacts our identity. With each text, I want us to think about the intersection between student, teacher and learner. What is the power of a true educator and the impact s/he has on their students’ lives? In addition, what impact does a student have on the teacher and the classroom? Is there a difference between a student and a learner? Who is the learner in the educational setting? Where can we find the courage and resilience to open ourselves up to knowledge beyond the words of a text? Finally, how does our educational background contribute to our continuing narratives?
