Awakening the Divine – Pardes Spirituality Retreat

Pardes, in partnership with the Institute for Jewish Spirituality and the NYU Center for Spiritual Life, held the Spirituality Retreat in December 2014. The retreat focused on introducing participants to life-transforming meditation practices and learning in the Jewish tradition. modes of spiritual practice included:

  • Mindfulness meditation
  • Prayer
  • Yoga
  • Workshops and group discussions
  • Jewish text study

Rabbi James Jacobson Maisels – director of Pardes Spirituality Track. He has been studying and teaching meditation and Jewish spirituality for over 15 years.

Yael Shy – director of the New York University Office of Global Spiritual Life and the founder and director of the Mindfulness Project at NYU.

Rabbi Sam Feinsmith – developed the Center for Jewish Mindfulness in Chicago. He teaches Jewish mindfulness practice as informed by hassidut, mussar and kabbalah.

About James Jacobson-Maisels

James grew up outside Hershey, PA and in Bloomfield Hills, MI. He teaches Jewish Thought and Mysticism and Jewish Spiritual Practices and Meditation at the Pardes Institute of Jewish Studies in Jerusalem, at Yeshivat Hadar in New York City at Haifa University and at the Hannaton Educational and Spiritual Center in the Galilee.
