5781 — Lech Lecha: Why is Avraham Really Chosen?

Posted by Meesh Hammer-Kossoy on October 28, 2020
Topics: Pardes from Jerusalem, Bereishit (Genesis), Torah, Lech Lecha

Avraham is both the Idol Smasher and the Harbinger of Justice and Righteousness. The Torah tells us explicitly why Avraham was chosen in Genesis 18:18-19, and the rabbis tell a story intended to explain what qualified him for the job. What is the connection between that midrash and the qualities listed in those verses.

This week’s podcast is sponsored by
Shana and Rabbi Shalom Kantor in honor of
Marni Mandell (Year ’01-’02) and Ram Nathaniel’s
new twins Maor and Elai
and in honor of all the incredible Pardes teachers.
